Tummy Tucks

Are You Considering Having a Tummy Tuck Procedure?

Abdominoplasty commonly know as the tummy tuck procedure is fantastic for men and women who may have had lost an enormous amount of weight and have loose sagging stomach skin or mothers who have given birth to children and have lost elasticity in the lower and upper abdomen, however this procedure does have big risks (which you can read about below) For some this procedure is a must because of health issues.

Before considering Cosmetic Tummy Tuck Surgery there are a few things you should take into consideration & know before you have this procedure.

Who is a Candidate for Abdominoplasty?
If you are at your ideal body weight, you have loose abdominal wall skin caused by excessive weight loss or pregnancy, your weight has been maintained for at least 6 months, you don’t smoke, you have realistic expectations & you have been fully informed on the risks and complications that are associated with the Tummy Tuck procedure.

If you have no problems with the above then your probably a good candidate. Usually people who have had problems with tummy tuck surgery are men and women who are still overweight and think this procedure will cure that obesity, think about the long term affects and not the here and now.

Where is the Incision Placed?
The tummy tuck incision is smiley shaped & goes down from hip to hip. The mini tuck incision is a short incision that is placed above the pubic area.

What is the Difference Between Mini Tucks & Normal Tummy Tucks?

Tummy Tuck: With full abdominoplasty the incision is bigger (which means a bigger scar) more fat and skin has to be removed & the loose stomach muscle will be tightened.

Mini Tuck: With mini tucks there is a smaller incision which is a single shorter incision which is above the pubic hair line. This surgery would be best if you have minimal looseness of the lower abdomin. Minimal amount of skin & fat will be removed.

What are the Risks Involved with Abdominoplasty?

Hematoma: Collection of blood inside a body cavity. Swelling, pain, and bruising may result. If a hematoma occurs, it will usually be soon after surgery. However, it can also occur at any time after injury to the breast. While the body absorbs small hematomas, large ones may require the placement of surgical drains for proper healing. A small scar can result from surgical draining, Infection, Keloid are thick, puckered, itchy clusters of scar tissue that grow beyond the edges of the wound or incision.

Puckered skin, Seroma: Collection of the watery portion of the blood around the implant or around the incision. Swelling, pain, and bruising may result. While the body absorbs small seroma’s, large ones will require the placement of surgical drains for proper healing. A small scar can result from surgical draining.

Reaction Anesthesia , Belly button death, Bleeding, Skin irregularities, Skin necrosis or Skin death (more common in smokers), Suture Rupture, & Swelling.

The risks involved with tummy tuck surgery can be deadly or leave you scared for life, we highly recommend you do a lot of research on the cosmetic surgeon you choose. Visit at least 5 surgeons before going a head with the procedure. If a cosmetic surgeon say he wil not perform this surgery on you then start looking into a alternative because you do not want to risk your health and life.
